The Beginning

January 30, 2008

The problems in Darfur didn’t just pop out of the blue, the conflicts began in February of2003.  It all started when two main rebel groups, the Sudan Liberation Army (SLA) and the Justice and Equality Mouvement (JEM) began attacking governement targets saying the region was being neglected by the governement.  More than a dozen rebel groups are now believed to exist although the two main groups have since then split up, some along ethic lines.
